Stanberry, Lavon

Stan' Stanberry, died Jul 19, 2003, in Grove Okla. He was 82. Born Sep 7, 1920, in Granby Missouri to George Ernest Stanberry and Iva Beennitindi Stanberry. Lived in Louisiana from the late 1970s until 1982 when he moved to Honey Creek. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Force. In 1946 he completed training as a control tower operator and was assigned duty at Mather Field California where he helped develop ground controlled aproach for aircraft disabled in flight. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1949. Married Leona R. Serbens in 1950 in Miami, she survives. Burial in Olympus cemetery near Grove.
