Philpott, Onal J.

Joe' Philpott, of Clever Missouri, died Mar 14, 2003. He was 83. Born Apr 7, 1919, in Neosho Missouri, to Ben Philpott and Janie Baker Philpott. He moved to Clever in 1989 from Miami. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Northern Italy, North Africa, Sicily, Oran, Cassion, Anzio and among the group that liberated Rome. He was in Mark Clark's 5th Army and served with General Patton. He received five Bronze Stars, a Silver Star and a Good Conduct Medal. Worked at B & M Automotive in Miami. Married Vida Lorene Cox on Nov 22, 1941. She preceded him in death on May 6, 1996. Burial in Hickory Grove cemetery, near Grove Okla.
