Messimore, Dennis L.

of Afton Okla died Mar 11, 2003, at Miami after a short illness. He was 82. Born Jun 8, 1920, in Fairland Okla to Eli Messimore and Ada Bartley Messimore. He returned to the Afton area in 1945, moving from Tulsa Okla. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Forces. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Douglas Aircraft and then for Spartan Aeronautics for 20 years. He also worked as a farmer and as a commercial fisherman on Grand Lake for 18 years. He and his wife served as foster parents for 19 children. They were also temporary placement parents for county children who needed help. Married Dortha Leona Seaton on Mar 9, 1942, in Vinita Okla. She preceded him in death on Nov 6, 2001. Burial at Hickory Grove cemetery near Grove.
