died Feb 27, 2003, in Wichita Kansas. He was 88. The son of James Lester Meridith and Bettie Ann Still Meridith, he was born on Feb 5, 1915, in Dodge. He graduated from Haskell Indian School in Lawrence Kansas. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a heavy machine gunner and achieved the rank of T4 Sergeant. He received several citations and three Bronze Stars and was honorably discharged in 1944. He then enlisted and served as a seaman in the Coast Guard. He returned to Okla and worked as a welder for an oil tank company, traveling through the Midwest. Sterling settled in Kansas City around 1950 and was an Iron Worker until his retirement. . Burial in the Olympus cemetery near Grove Okla.
