McDonald, Donald

Flip' McDonald, age 81, of Miami died Feb 12, 2002.

Born Feb 12, 1921 at Webb City Missouri to Andrew McDonald and Myrtle Widick McDonald. Lived in the Quapaw and Commerce Okla area most of his life. He was a 1940 graduate of Commerce, where he made All-State lettering in football and track. A veteran, he served in the Army during World War II. He played professional football for the Philadelphia Eagles and played one year in the Canadian League. Principal at the Quapaw school system for 29 years, retiring in 1983. Preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Highley McDonald in 1981. He married Charlotte Wilson on Sep 9, 1983, she survives. Burial in Mount Hope cemetery, Joplin Missouri.
