Bump, Donald Joe

of Miami died Jan 25, 2003, from injuries received in a farming accident. He was 45. Born Jan 8,1953, in Sedan Kansas, to Donald Gene Bump and Reba June Browning Bump. Burial will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens cemetery east of Miami.

Donnie Joe Bump, a rural Fairland Okla man died Saturday when a tree he was attempting to uproot with his tractor fell on him. Age 46, he was taken by helicopter to Joplin Missouri and was pronounced dead ...about 4:50 p.m. Saturday a neighbor discovered Bump pinned by a tree to his tractor. Bump had been cutting down trees with a chain saw, but apparently decided to pull one down with a rope attached to his tractor after the gas-powered saw began stalling, according to Carolyn Johnson, the neighbor who called for help. Instead of falling away from Bump, the tree fell on him pinning him to the tractor's steering wheel. Apparently Johnson tried to start the saw and cut the tree away from Bump, but could not keep the saw running. When emergency first responders arrived they found Bump conscious, but having trouble breathing and called for the helicopter ambulance, according to Fairland Fire Chief Bill Lundsford.
