Obituary -- One man is dead, another seriously injured, perhaps fatally, and a third is facing drunkenness charge as the result of an automobile mishap four miles east of Miami on Saturday evening. Raymond Young, 25, of Picher Oklahoma, was killed instantly; Charles G. Hunt, 30, also of Picher, received a crushed chest, other body injuries and was near death at Miami Baptist hospital late Saturday night, and Huger Stanley, 21, of near Seneca Missouri, was in the county jail suffering only from minor facial cuts and bruises. Witnesses said Hunt, driver of the coupe in which the group was riding, lost control of the vehicle as he attempted to swerve his car toward the center of the road four miles east and one-quarter mile north of here on the Ottawa- Quapaw route. Passing a car that had been parked while a flat tire was being fixed, Hunt evidently could not right his car in time to avoid the tragedy. The vehicle plunged over, as many as six times, and ended its revolutions on the highway. Geady Knight, Glen Bunte and Raymond Bunte and their families all of Hockerville Oklahoma, were parked on the right side of the highway to repair a tire. Hunt, driving north veered to the left and then failed in efforts to negotiate the turn toward the middle of the road. A Mitchelson undertaking company ambulance, of Commerce, brought Hunt to the hospital, where attendants held little hope for the victim's recovery. Young's body was first taken to Commerce, then removed to the Durnil funeral home at Picher. Sheriff Eli Dry and deputy sheriff Henry Blanton and Ed Beeson, investigated the mishap. One officer drove the car driven by Hunt to the courthouse parking lot. The top was smashed in, the windshield glass was missing and the front end was damaged. Meantime, Stanley received medical attention at the jail. No charges had been filed against him Saturday night. Young, is survived by his wife Rita Young; a three year old son, Virgil Lee Young; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Young of Picher; one brother, Guy Young of Picher, and two sisters. Funeral arrangements were incomplete Saturday night. Hunt is also married. His wife, Maud Hunt, was at the hospital with him Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt live at 210 East Eighth street, Picher.
