Obituary -- The body of an infant girl abandoned to die by a person or persons unknown, was found wrapped in what might have been its mother maternity gown under a pile of debris in the rear of a Commerce Oklahoma rooming house at about 3:30 pm Saturday. Deputy Milt McCullough of Sheriff Dee T. Watters' force conducted an investigation into the parentage of the baby. Dr. J. S. Jacoby, Commerce physician, after examining the body, said he believed that the child, weighing eight pounds and 10 ounces, was, "Born alive within the past 24 hours and had probably been hidden under the pile of trash since some time before dawn Saturday. The body was fully developed the physician added. Deputy sheriff McCullough said the body was found by a nearby woman resident whose curiosity was aroused when she saw what appeared to be "a carefully wrapped package" tucked under the debris. Discovering the bundle's contents, she immediately notified officers.

Obituary -- Body of baby found in an alley was buried, while Ottawa county Oklahoma Attorney Richard Smith and deputy sheriff Milt McCullough continued their investigation into the parentage of an infant girl found dead under a pile of rubbish in a Commerce alley last Saturday afternoon. The baby's body was buried in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami this morning. As the body was badly decomposed, burial was made on orders of the county attorney, Hal Mitchelson, Commerce undertaker, said. Although officers uncovered no definite information as to the circumstances surrounding the birth and death of the infant, officers indicated today they had a number of leads to work on.
