Abstract Data

Obituary -- 21 year old miner, died shortly after 6 Sunday afternoon, an hour after drinking a quantity of carbolic acid. Present indications point to the theory that the youth committed suicide, but it is said there are circumstances which may furnish a different solution. Strong, who was employed at the Beaver Mine in Cardin Oklahoma, is married and has a 7 month old son. The miner and his young wife, are said to have had a quarrel Sunday afternoon. However, Sheriff Cal Garman, who was called here after the finding of the body said he had talked with the druggist who sold carbolic acid to Strong, and the merchant said the youth told him he wanted the acid to make a liniment with which to treat a sick horse. Strong's body was found by his wife, in the home of Jack Estes, father of Mrs. Strong, where they made their home. The youth's parents are dead, his mother having died only a few months ago. The body was taken to the morgue of the Michelson undertaking company in Commerce Oklahoma, and funeral arrangements will be held up pending the investigation this afternoon. Strong is survived by one sister, Mrs. Hazel Moorehead of Parsons Kansas.
