Obituary -- Picher Oklahoma, Aug 8 Mrs. Ida Lowe, 77 years old, a pioneer resident of the Tri-State district died at 10 o'clock last night at her home, five miles north of Picher where she had resided the last 62 years. She had been in failing health several years. Several months ago her condition became critical and she gradually grew worse until death resulted. Mrs. Lowe was one of the earliest school teachers of this section of the country, having taught in the Elm Tree district of her community 52 years ago. At last year's annual Elm Tree school district reunion, Mrs. Lowe was awarded first prize for having the largest number of students present. This honor was won by the presence of 24 of her students of 52 years previous. Each year an award of this nature is made at the reunion to the teacher having the largest number of students present. Surviving are the husband, J. E. Lowe, one son, Eddie Lowe, at home; and one brother, Wesley Edmiston of Independence Missouri. Funeral services will be conducted at the family home at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with the Rev. Mr. Kuhns of Galena Kansas officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the class Mrs. Lowe taught at the Elm Tree school 33 years ago. Five of the six pallbearers had been selected today including, Ray Mitchelson, Doc Chubb, Clark Duff, Martin Hall and Dan Miller. Burial will be at Baxter Springs Kansas. The funeral will be under direction of the Hal Mitchelson undertaking company.
