Obituary -- Funeral services for Garland Heaps, Commerce Oklahoma miner killed Thursday morning near Baxter Springs Kansas, will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Baptist church at Commerce. Father George Aman of Miami with officiate. Heaps died in a Picher hospital, Picher Oklahoma, at 8 o'clock Thursday morning, a short time after he was struck in the back of the head by a falling slab. Burial will be in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami under the direction of the Mitchelson undertaking company.

Obituary -- Garland Buck' Heaps, 35 years old, died at the Picher Oklahoma hospital this morning shortly after he was struck in the back of the head by a falling boulder at the Beck Mine No. 3, southwest of Baxter Springs Kansas. The injured man was rushed to Picher in an ambulance of the Harvey undertaking company, but died as he was being placed on the operating table. Hospital physicians said a basal skull fracture caused his death. The accident occurred shortly after 7 o'clock. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Heaps; one son, Jackie Lee Heaps, and one stepson, Bobbie Lee, all of Commerce; his mother, Mrs. Julia Osterhaut, also of Commerce; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Cox of Picher, and Miss Luella Heaps of Commerce. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Mitchelson undertaking company is in charge.
