Abstract Data

Obituary -- Joseph Nettie Dyer, 46 years old, died last Monday at the home of his niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Norwood in Yale Oklahoma. Mr. Dyer was a brother of Mrs. J. W. Lyon of Miami; other relatives surviving include his wife, Mrs. Nettie Dyer; a step-daughter, Mrs. Jack Clark of Wichita Kansas, and two other sisters, Mrs. Ellen Long of Fairland Oklahoma and Mrs. Laura McKinnlay of Pauls Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sherdon of Commerce Oklahoma were also relatives. Mr. Dyer lived on a farm near Sleeper Missouri until early manhood, when with his mother, Mrs. Lucy Dyer, he moved to Webb City Missouri. He was married there in 1918 to Mrs. Nettie Elright who survives him. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Commerce Wednesday. Burial was in Miami cemetery. Note: Mitchelson records indicate that Mr. Dyer was murdered and also that he died of tuberculosis. Newspapers that could verify this could not be found. The microfilm was difficult to read and some of the survivor names could be mis-spelled.
