Abstract Data

Walter Baker, 42 year old North Miamian, died at Miami Baptist hospital Thursday night shortly after being taken there for treatment of a caustic poison Baker is believed to have taken purposely. Physicians said Baker's face and mouth were badly burned. Mrs. Baker, said she could think of no reason for the act unless it was despondency over being unemployed the last two years. Friends said that Baker was a veteran of the last war that that he had been discouraged over compensation decreases. Funeral services will be held at the North Miami Christian church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon and burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery under the direction of Mitchelson undertakers.
Baker is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edith Baker; two sons, Cleo Baker and Kenneth Baker; two daughters, Beatrice Baker and Betty Nell Baker; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Baker of Howe Oklahoma and four brothers and two sisters.
