Obituary -- Funeral services for William Billy' Anderson, well-known lead and zinc mining figure, will be conducted at the Baptist church at Commerce Oklahoma at 2:30 pm Tuesday. The Rev. Franklin Simmons will officiate. Active pallbearers will be C. L. Grayson, L. J. Bowers, William Reed, J. A. Tillotson, Joe Hobson and Richard Elliott. Honorary pallbearers include: C. M. Harvey, Jr., Perry Inhofe, P. T. McLaughlin, Carl Williams, F. H. Gartung, Tobe Renick, Fred Green, G. C. Bullock, Jimmy Durham, Robert Tittman, A. L. Commons, Dewey Sims, Hugh Wright, Mac Barlett, Leo Searcy and Guyman Martin. Anderson, 62 years old, died at his home at Commerce at 7:30 pm Saturday. He had been in ill health for the past year. Moving to Commerce in 1916, Anderson worked for the Blue Bird Mining Company and later was employed as ground foreman by the old Commerce Mining and Royalty Company. He held that position until the Eagle-Picher Company purchased the properties late in 1938. Anderson was an independent mining operator for five years ending in 1943 at which time he accepted a position as safety engineer with the Tri-State Insurance Company in Picher Oklahoma. He was employed in that capacity until his death. Survivors include three daughters; Miss Opal Anderson of San Francisco California, Mrs. Gay Gardner of Midwest City Oklahoma, and Miss Reba Anderson of Commerce; a brother, Herman Larson Anderson of Edmond Oklahoma and three grandchildren. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami under direction of the Mitchelson funeral home at Commerce.
