Abstract Data

Paul C. Delmont - died at 11:35 am Tuesday, Feb 24, 1998, at Maude Norton hospital in Columbus Kansas, after a long illness. He was 73. Born Jan 1, 1925, in Miami. He had lived in the Columbus area all of his life. He served in the US Army from December 1944 to October 1946, in the Pacific theater including the occupation of Japan. He worked in the hard rock lead and zinc mines in Ottawa county Oklahoma before going to work for the Kansas State Highway Department where he worked for 35 years before retiring in 1987. Married Delphia Wheeler on April 24, 1948, in Columbus. She survives. Additional survivors include three sons, Brad Delmont, Martin Delmont and Steven Delmont, all of Columbus Kansas; two daughters, Bonnie Golf, Jane Missouri, and Paulette Harris, New Orleans Louisiana; two brothers, Charlie Delmont, rural Columbus, and Ernest Delmont, Miami; a sister, Betty Gilmore, Baxter Springs Kansas; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, John Orbin Delmont, Robert Delmont, Ralph Delmont, Jack Delmont and Bill Delmont. Burial in the Greenlawn cemetery in Kansas. Pallbearers will be Edd Delmont, Larry Delmont, Richard Frank, Jim Delmont, Randy Munson, Danny Delmont, Doug Delmont, and John O. Delmont, Jr.
