John W. 'Jay' Crossland - of 308 Mound avenue, in Treece Kansas, died at 3:30 pm, Sunday, Jul 12, 1998, at a Joplin Missouri hospital following an illness. He was 72. Mr. Crossland was born Sep 22, 1925 in Commerce Oklahoma, to Albert Wesley Crossland and Leora Bowers Crossland. He had lived in the Commerce and Treece area most of his life. He was a retired hard rock lead and zinc miner. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the United States Army in Burma, China and India. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Kansas. Pallbearers will be Darrell Hart Jr., John Clark III, Justin Clark, Brandon Crossland, Gary Cox and Rick Garrett. Paul Thomas funeral home of Picher.
