Abstract Data
James Butcher - the body of a man fatally injured Wednesday in a truck collision north of Commerce Oklahoma was identified at the Lane funeral home, Miami, last night as that of James Butcher, of Picher Oklahoma. Identification was made by George Butcher, an older brother, who came to Miami after reading a description of the death victim which was published in Thursday's edition of the Miami News Record. Butcher was riding in a vehicle driven by M. M. Bowden, 102 M street southeast, Miami. The latter's truck collided with one driven by L. V. Baltzell of Oronogo Missouri at the intersection of the Will Rogers Memorial and U.S. 69 highways. Officers learned relatives became alarmed about Butcher's prolonged absence from his home after making a trip to Miami Wednesday morning. They thought at first he had decided to stay with a friend overnight and then, failing to hear from him, began their search for his whereabouts. Butcher died of a fractured skull. A resident of Picher for several years, Butcher has been employed by lead and zinc ore buyers in loading trucks. Besides the brother, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. James Leslie Roamhill, also of Picher.
