Claude Wesley Brown - age 70, of Picher Oklahoma, died at 7 am on Aug 17, 1996, at his home. born Mar 10, 1926, at Treece Kansas. He moved to Picher from Lanagan Missouri in 1979. He had worked as a hard rock lead and zinc miner in the Picher area and later served as chief of police in Metaline Falls Washington. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Married Maxine Smith on Dec 2, 1976, at Bentonville Arkansas. she survives. Derfelt's funeral home, Baxter Springs Kansas. Burial in Greenlawn cemetery in Kansas.

Brown of 731 North Netta street, Picher Oklahoma, died after a long illness. Born March 10, 1926, in Treece Kansas. He retired in 1970 as a hoist operator for Finex and Sisson, Inc. in Joliet Illinois. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include a daughter, Shannon McGee, Spokane Washington; two brothers, Albert Lee Brown, Henderson Kentucky, and Earnest Brown, Azle Texas; two sisters, Delna Simpson, Baxter Springs Kansas and Betty June Barrett, Wichita Kansas; a half-sister, Kaye Montgomery, Alpharetta Georgia, and two grandchildren. Burial at the Greenlawn cemetery in Kansas. Pallbearers will be Claude Brown, Charley Brown, Mike Barrett, Mark Barrett, Dwaine Brown, and Dennis Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Mahurin, Cecil North, Butch Matthews, and Charles Dee Knight.
