W. D. Barnett, a mining engineer who retired in 1955, died unexpectedly at 8:15 am today at his home. A resident of Commerce more than 50 years, Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lorene Barnett; three daughters, Evelyn Wyrick of Arlington Texas, Helen Calhoun and Ruth Boswell, both of Long Beach California; two sons, Bill Barnett and Gerald Barnett, both of Long Beach; a step-daughter; Norene Nedeau of Wichita Kansas and a step-son Willard Mills, Wichita; two sisters, Marguerite Sullivan of Hayward California, and another whose identity was not immediately available, and two grandchildren.
