born May 15, 1921, in Afton Oklahoma to John Theodore Dent and Effie Viola Gray Dent. A veteran, he retired from the U.S. Army as a master sergeant after serving from 1942 to 1972, during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
